Survival of the fittest

Herbert Spencer coined the phrase, "survival of the fittest." Herbert Spencer (who coined the term) and Charles Darwin. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survival_of_the_fittest I’m nowhere concerned/connected with ecological study, but the reason I’m still using the term “Survival of the Fittest” (SoF) is that I was made aware of this term by a colleague of mine in the office just few days back. Man… our life is based on SoF!! was his words, and I was totally shocked. Bcoz what I knew about this term was that SoF was used to describe the evolution theory for species (animals) and their way of natural selection of evolution. But how the hell this term became applicable from animals to Human beings of 21st century? After talking to many of my friends I realize that due to the fast pace (our lifestyle), people had started believing that the life is competition. I tried to place my belief that competition maybe applicable for work/office, but I found that people (Less then 4

Test of Three

Socrates came upon an acquaintance that ran up to him excitedly and said, “Do you know what I just heard about one of your students?” “Just a minute,” Socrates replied. “Before you tell me I’d like you to pass a little test. It’s called the Test of Three . “ The first test is Truth . Are you sure that what you will say is true? “Oh no,” the man said, “Actually I just heard about it.” “So you don’t really know if it’s true, Socrates said. Now let’s try the second test, the test of Goodness . Is what you are about to tell me about my student something good?” “No, on the contrary..” “So,” Socrates interrupted, “you want to tell me something bad about him even though you’re not certain it’s true?” The man shrugged, rather embarrassed. Socrates continued. “You may still pass though, because there is a third test, the filter of Usefulness . Is what you want to tell me about my student going to be useful to me at all?” “Well it ..no, not really..” “Well, concluded Socates, “ If what you want

Ordering Correctly.

I don’t know what are you expecting from this title, let’s guess what I’m gonna talk about here? Will I talk about correct ways of praying? Difference between Right and Wrong kind of prayers? Give some lecture about Praying? Remind you about the importance of Prayers? I’m not planning to do anything like that, I myself is bored of lectures. I strongly believe that there’s nothing like wrong way of praying, then why did I selected a title like “Praying correctly”?? In fact I’m having something else on my head at the moment; I’m planning to connect this situation with practical life. Like everybody else, u also must have faced lots of struggles, u get tired of them, u said a prayer Oh lord, gimme a good life, and ur faith hopes that the prayer reaches the god, u wait for the prayer to get answered, u wait and wait, and as the patience weakens the faith; u start believing that god is not listening to ur prayers. U feel ignored and lonely, sadness embraces u to the point of suffocation. No

Stars & the God.

Thou seest many stars at night in the sky, but findest them not when the sun rises. Canst thou say that there are no stars, then, in the heaven of day? So, O man, because thou beholdest not the Almighty in the days of thy ignorance, say not that there is no God. - Sri Ramakrishna Read those lines again, word-by-word, aren’t they having deep meaning? Yes! We know they are deep thoughts; full of love. You must be feeling a bit surprised the way I am feeling right now, the word “Ignorance” is not expected from the kind mouth of a great soul like Sri Ramakrishna. We all will agree that this word is full of negativity, then why such a blessed soul used this word? Before talking about anything else I would like to think first about the reason why Sri Ramakrishna used such a negative word. I believe it’s the anger which might have made appear that this word is best and most appropriate word to be used at that time when he said those enlightened thoughts. Leaving all things behind,
