Giving Respect: The Importance & Rewards

Today I just feel like talking about a single word “Respect”. In my lifespan I had seen a very big and unavoidably very important role of this word. U may ignore to give respect in life, but u can’t ignore the ‘after effects’ of ignoring (or giving) the respect.

I can say that: Everybody had fallen in luv at least once in life. Leaving exceptions, those who close their heart and life (won’t comment on the reason; could be something too personal); there is no place of luv in their life. So let’s just have a look on the pattern with which we luv a person…

If we see closely, then we always fall in luv after getting attracted to a person. We get attracted bcoz the person possesses something which mysteriously had made a huge impact on us. In other words: When u luv someone, u respect him or her for being “the person” that they really are, not the person that u want them to be.

After falling in luv, u may want to make some changes in ur partner’s behavior, thoughts, actions, attitude, lifestyle, or whatever…. But the fact is that u had fallen in luv with that person for being what he/she is. So please never forget to respect the real identity of ur near and dear ones.

U can only luv someone completely if u respects him or her. Respect is like a stream of fresh water and without respect; don’t expect luv and kindness to grow in anybody’s life. Once u make a change in ur life by trying to respect everybody around u, I can assure that the amount of respect which u will get back in ur life… will make ur life much more beautiful then having a million dollars in ur bank account.

Giving and getting back respect can fill ur life with priceless “contentment”, whereas ANY amount of money can never do that. I wish if I can emphasis on the words “Any Amount” in a way I’m feeling right now. Something in me is telling me that everybody of us knows that giving respect and a kind smile will cost us nothing, but the question is that why we still are not able to share this free gift with all those who are around us?

Respect also contributes to the person that u really are; your image is greatly built by how u respect others and how u get that respect back. Ur abilities to luv the other person, is enhanced (or reduced) depending on how much respect u give to the other person.

U’ll agree with me here: Everybody luv to talk to kind hearted people who have good words to give. Once u taste the sweetness in the stream of “Respect”, I can say that everybody who honestly tries to give respect… will become such a person, with a beautiful heart.

My wife and my adorable friend (Mashu) have made such a beautiful impact in my life, that I don’t even remember the last day/time when I complained to god about my life. First of all I would like to express my deepest thanks and endless praises of almighty for blessing me with presence of such beautiful people in life. Secondly I would like to express millions of thanks to all of u for respecting me for what I am.

Beautiful Article: Guru Arjan Dev

I was so very impressed to see a beautiful article (on Guru Arjan Dev) posted by my wife on her blog Ganappa. I can tell u a lot about Guru Arjan Dev, but I would prefer u to read the original blog. She wrote it beautifully, and here is what I want u to do in ur life to get the blessings.....

The reason I was impressed is that she came to knew about this Sikh Guru named "Arjan Dev" a few weeks back only, and she did all kinda research on the net to know more about him. In spite of  being from a different background she took such a deep interest in Guru Arjan Dev's history that she dug up all possible information.

The adorable name given to the title of the blog is Forbear, forgive: Guru Arjan Dev and this was the Exact message he gave to this world. By quietly accepting all the torture done by mughals on him, the guru gave the message that the one who accepts to bear the torture is much more stronger then the one who is torturing. The bearer is much more stronger to forgive the one who is the reason of the pain, with his silence the guru shattered the ego of those who used to call them self most powerful.

I had posted a blog "Survival of the fittest" (SoF) in which I had talked about the wrong thought which we are having in our minds. I still say that our family life does not have any reason to think that we have to bring SoF in it. I bet that after reading everything about Guru Arjan Dev u will agree to the fact that: From centuries... we Indians have been Defying Darwin's theory of "Survival of the fittest".

Believe in the beauty of life, have trust in all actions of god. Keep ur faith strong, that whatever god had given is the "best" and the "only" thing u need in ur life to keep it beautiful. Luxuries are always tempting, but they all are temporary too. Whereas whatever god gave to us as a gift, is source of permanent happiness/contentment.

We are the smartest creation of god, don't degrade & insult urself by behaving like animals who are competing with every other animal in their species.

Stop thinking that we have to compete in all spheres of our life, otherwise u will never have enough of time to enjoy the real beauty of this life.  If u were also supposed to behave like animals, then why the hell god created u intelligent and so much different then animals? I hope u realize that these actions will insult ur almighty creator, and u would not like to insult ur creator with ur immature behavior.

Those who're running in top positions in SoF's rat-race, will call a person like me a Loser. But... I'm proud to be a loser, bcoz I'm a human... not a competing animal like them :)

I believe that "It's never late to correct our mistakes, provided u accept that u made the mistake." Who are u anyway..... I hope u're a human like me too.

Don't Waste Life

I would rather be ashes than dust!

I would rather prefer that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze; than it should be stifled by dry rot.

I would rather be a superb meteor but temporary with every atom of me in a magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.

As I strongly believe that the proper function of man is to live, not just exist.

I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time to best, in a way it(time) really deserves.

Wasting time = Wasting ur life.

Survival of the fittest

Herbert Spencer coined the phrase, "survival of the fittest." Herbert Spencer (who coined the term) and Charles Darwin. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survival_of_the_fittest

I’m nowhere concerned/connected with ecological study, but the reason I’m still using the term “Survival of the Fittest” (SoF) is that I was made aware of this term by a colleague of mine in the office just few days back. Man… our life is based on SoF!! was his words, and I was totally shocked.

Bcoz what I knew about this term was that SoF was used to describe the evolution theory for species (animals) and their way of natural selection of evolution. But how the hell this term became applicable from animals to Human beings of 21st century?

After talking to many of my friends I realize that due to the fast pace (our lifestyle), people had started believing that the life is competition. I tried to place my belief that competition maybe applicable for work/office, but I found that people (Less then 40yrs of age) strongly believe that SoF is applicable to their family life too.

This makes me very sad to see that they are competing with their loved ones & strangers both, which comes to a conclusion that the present life they are living does not reveals much difference between Family & Colleagues. Sad!!

Why are we competing anyway? was my question to them. In reply I got many heavy weight words like: Promotion, money, success, happiness, attention, prestige, social status, etc. But my question still remains unanswered, WHY? I bet that even after achieving any of those heavy words(targets) the person will not stop. Once you think that life is a competition, and then it means everything in this universe is your competitor.

I’m trying to make people believe that we are not animals who need to compete in order to survive. But it does not makes much difference as they all remember things for some time, and then they’re back into the self-started rat race.

Are u also the one who had self-started this competition (race) for urself???? Planning to stop now, now or it will become too late. Stop being ur own enemy, we’re not competitors, we are educated humans.

Blessings to all.

Test of Three

Socrates came upon an acquaintance that ran up to him excitedly and said, “Do you know what I just heard about one of your students?”

“Just a minute,” Socrates replied. “Before you tell me I’d like you to pass a little test. It’s called the Test of Three.
The first test is Truth. Are you sure that what you will say is true?
“Oh no,” the man said, “Actually I just heard about it.”
“So you don’t really know if it’s true, Socrates said. Now let’s try the second test, the test of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my student something good?”
“No, on the contrary..” “So,” Socrates interrupted, “you want to tell me something bad about him even though you’re not certain it’s true?” The man shrugged, rather embarrassed.
Socrates continued. “You may still pass though, because there is a third test, the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my student going to be useful to me at all?”
“Well it ..no, not really..”

“Well, concluded Socates, “If what you want to tell me is neither True nor good nor ever Useful, why tell it to me at all?” The man was defeated and ashamed.

This is the reason Socrates was held in such high esteem.

Ordering Correctly.

I don’t know what are you expecting from this title, let’s guess what I’m gonna talk about here? Will I talk about correct ways of praying? Difference between Right and Wrong kind of prayers? Give some lecture about Praying? Remind you about the importance of Prayers?

I’m not planning to do anything like that, I myself is bored of lectures. I strongly believe that there’s nothing like wrong way of praying, then why did I selected a title like “Praying correctly”?? In fact I’m having something else on my head at the moment; I’m planning to connect this situation with practical life.

Like everybody else, u also must have faced lots of struggles, u get tired of them, u said a prayer Oh lord, gimme a good life, and ur faith hopes that the prayer reaches the god, u wait for the prayer to get answered, u wait and wait, and as the patience weakens the faith; u start believing that god is not listening to ur prayers. U feel ignored and lonely, sadness embraces u to the point of suffocation.

Now just compare this situation with a real life situation, u’re in a hotel, u went to the counter, and said: I’m hungry! Gimme a tasty food and a drink. Now suppose u’re on the other side of the counter and u just received that oder (above). What will u do? What good food u will give to ur customer? What drink will accompany that food? What would be it’s cost? Will ur customer be happy to pay the price of that food u gave to him? What if that customer says “This is not I wanted, gimme another thing. GOOD ONE”

What would U do???

I believe that most of us are doing the same thing with god, we all want happiness, pleasure, easy life. But we never clarify the real meaning of Happiness while placing our order (Prayer). To remind u I’m comparing Spiritual actions with Real life actions. So Praying to god here is equivalent to placing an order in a Restaurant/Shop. U will agree with me on this “Definition of happiness will change from person to person, and situation to situation”, Now can u see that if u ask god to give happiness in ur life is just like asking for Food on Mc Donald’s counter.

God is almighty and he knows what’s best for us, with this belief u asked god to get the best thing for u. Now in the above condition if the person on the counter brings u a Top product with chicken wings n 1Ltr bottle of Coke…. and u happen to be a veggie not at all thirsty enough to finish off 1ltr bottle. What will u do? U will turn down the order, u have turned down a Top product. And I agree that u have not done anything wrong by turning down such an Order.

But didn’t u urself allowed the person to decide & bring the best food for u? When u already gave all rights to him to decide on ur behalf, then why do u feel bad enough to turn down that order after it arrives? Simple, bcoz this is not what u wanted. But how can other person know unless u clearly ask for what exactly u want? U asked for best and u are served the best. Why complain now?

Now….. Trying to step in the shoes of the person on counter: What will u feel if ur decision was turned down like that in Public? Obviously u will feel darn upset on such a customer. Ordering it badly and then turning down the best product given to him, u will never wish to get the same customer back on ur counter. Right? Same is with God, why will he entertain ur half baked prayers ever again? But god always answers whatever u ask, no matter how rubbish way u pray.

Only bcoz of our fault, our prayers remain unanswered for a long long time. It’s my personal experience that I have found my prayers answered within minutes. U have all rights to not to believe in my words, doubt me as much as u like. But who’ll be in loss? Believe in urself, keep ur faith strong, and order clearly.

In a nutshell: While placing ur order, place it correctly and clearly. Don’t leave any space for confusions & misunderstandings.
