Remembering Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.

337 years back… Today; Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji was beheaded bcoz “Then ruler” Aurangzeb was not able to break Guru’s faith by making the Guru bow in front of merciless and forceful “Islamic conversions” done by the ruler.

On this day: Of Martyrdom of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji…. I continue to remember and follow teachings of the Guru. I pray that may almighty guide us all to have “this” much stronger character, and unshakable faith so that we can contribute towards making a much better world. I seek for blessings so that we can stop running behind our expectations and quit the race of earning more and more money. Together we all can keep the teachings of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji alive…. For ever and forever.

RE: Unsafe North-East India....

Proving that they (Chinese Govt.) are not concerned with any sort of ethics regarding their neighbors…. They took another step towards loosing respect in the international community…

But the main question is: Will India be able to safe it’s borders? I know, I know… the answer was… is…. and will remain : No, never.

With this corrupt government, India will never able to save even 1 inch of it’s land from China.

China's new passport map includes Arunachal Pradesh, Aksai Chin in its territory

By ANI | ANI – 19 hours ago

New Delhi, Nov 23 (ANI): China has reportedly depicted Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as part of its territory in its new passports.

China irked Vietnam and the Philippines as it also included disputed South China Sea Islands on maps printed inside new passports.

According to media reports, the Philippines 'strongly protests' against China's move, its foreign affairs ministry spokesman, Raul Hernandez, said.

"The action of China is contrary to the spirit of the declaration of conduct of parties in the South China Sea," Hernandez said.

Vietnam's government lodged a formal complaint with the Chinese embassy in Hanoi. (ANI)

China puts Himalayan claims on passport map

By Frank Jack Daniel | Reuters – 4 hours ago

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India is stamping its own map on visas it issues to holders of new Chinese passports that contain a map depicting disputed territory within China's borders, the latest twist in tension in Asia over China's territorial claims.

China's new microchip-equipped passports contain a map that marks its claims over disputed waters and also show as its territory two Himalayan regions that India also claims.

The map means countries disputing the Chinese claims will have to stamp microchip-equipped passports of countless visitors, in effect acquiescing to the Chinese point of view.

In response, India is issuing visas stamped with its own version of the borders, sources with knowledge of the dispute told Reuters.

"The correct map of India is stamped on to visas being issued on such passports," said one of the sources, who declined to be identified.

China's long-standing territorial disputes with Japan and Southeast Asian neighbours have grown heated in recent months.

On Thursday, the Philippines responded angrily to the new passports, saying Chinese carrying the document would be violating Philippine national sovereignty. India and China fought a brief, high-altitude border war in 1962.

The nuclear-armed neighbours have held multiple rounds of talks to resolve their disputed Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh regions where they fought the war but have made little progress.

In Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chunying told a daily news briefing that China has selected the maps as background on the inside pages of the passports issued by the Ministry of Public Security in May.

"The design is not targeting a specific country," Hua said. "We hope that the relevant countries take a rational and sensible attitude ... to avoid causing interference with normal Sino-foreign personnel exchanges." (Additional reporting by Sui-Lee Wee in Beijing; Editing by Robert Birsel)

Pack ur Bags....

Countries that offer VOA (Visa On Arrival) to Indians

If pre-planning a holiday and running around for a visa gives you a headache, then look no further. Pack your bags and head straight to airport for a hassle-free visa experience.

Here are some of the countries that offer Visa on Arrival (VOA) to Indians.

Source: Lonely Planet, http://www.visasforindians.com/TouristSummary.html

1.       With the Kenya Tourism Board, planning to boost tourism revenues in three years, it offers Indians a VOA to Kenya for a max. stay of 3 months for $50, provided the passport contains at least one blank page for visa endorsement. Extension of stay is possible for additional 3 months. Visitors are required to hold proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay and documents required for their next destination.

  1. The fourth largest island in the world, 90 percent of Madagascar’s flora and fauna, and many of its animal species are found nowhere else in the world. Indians can obtain a thirty-day visa free of charge at the Antananarivo airport, Madagascar’s primary international airport. If your stay is for up to 90 days, then multiple entry visa costs $84.00.
  2. Indian businesses have in recent years made inroads into the mining and cashew processing industries in Mozambique, a former Portuguese colony, which has seen stable administration since the end of a civil war in the early 1990s. Facilities for tourism in Maputo, the capital city, are steadily improving but remain limited in other areas. Visitors can obtain a visa on arrival, for a maximum stay of 30 days for $80.
  3. Beaches are the main attraction in Seychelles and how! With a dreamlike setting, this island (comprising of 115 of them) is an obvious choice for honeymooners. What’s more, a visa on arrival is issued free of charge. The Visitor’s Permit is initially valid for the period of visit of up to one month. It can be extended for a period of up to three months from the date of issue and capable of further extensions. One needs to have a passport valid on the date of entry to and exit from Seychelles, return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation; including contact details and sufficient funds for the duration of the stay.
  4. Bolivia visa for Indians can be obtained on arrival by paying a fee of $52 at La Paz airport. Six months validity on your passport is a must. The landlocked country is the highest and most isolated country in South America.
  5. Indians can obtain a VOA to El Salvador by purchasing a tourist card for $10 to stay for a maximum of up to 3 months. This tourist card is generally issued for 90 days and includes Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua and one can travel for 90 days throughout those 4 countries, called the CA-4.
  6. In Saint Kitts and Nevis, Indians can obtain a visa on arrival for free for a maximum stay of 3 months provided holding proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay. Proof of a valid return or onward ticket, and proof of adequate funds to cover the cost of their stay in St. Kitts and Nevis is required as well. The twin islands have beaches with the beauty of the mountains and plenty of activities
  7. Another glossed over honeymoon spot, Indians can obtain a visa on arrival to St. Lucia for a maximum stay of 6 weeks by paying a fee of $50 and holding proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay. St. Lucia has an amazing scene for scuba diving
  8. Who would’ve thought that Antarctica would feature in this list? Of course since it’s part of no country, no visa is required. However, you do need a permit to enter, visas for destinations enroute that you stop at, and a handsome budget. As most Antarctica flights and cruises depart from Argentina or Chile, you will need to show your passports in either country. You will also need to be prepared for any unscheduled stops in foreign lands, which could be the result of rough seas or all around bad weather.
  9. With Hong Kong's economy one of the fastest growing in the world and supporting a booming middle class, tourism is a potential sector for growth. With this in mind, the country offers a fourteen-day entry stamp free of charge at Hong Kong airport for Indians. Visitors are required to show evidence of sufficient funds to cover their stay in Hong Kong and hold travel documents, including visas and confirmed flight tickets, required for their return or next destination.
  10. Giving the South Asian cooperation some practical shape, Indians can obtain a VOA for a maximum stay of 90 days in Maldives, free of charge. Visitors are required to hold confirmed return/onward tickets and Hotel Reservation. Visitors who do not have a hotel reservation are required to hold at least US$ 30 per person per day to cover their stay in Maldives.
  11. Just across the border, Nepal offers plenty of sights for mountain lovers. With the largest tourism market for Nepal being India (27 percent of total tourists), a single entry visa on arrival is granted to Indian citizens for upto 150 days in Nepal.
  12. Generally, a foreign citizen who wishes to enter the Kingdom of Thailand is required to obtain a visa from a Royal Thai Embassy or a Royal Thai Consulate-General. However, Indians can obtain visa on arrival in Thailand for a stay of 15-30 days with a fee of US$ 35.
  13. Albania Visa on Arrival can be obtained for those holding a letter issued by the Albanian Ministry of Interior confirming that a visa will be available on arrival. Albania is a small, mountainous country in the Balkan peninsula, with pristine beaches and a bursting bright capital.
  14. Indians holding an official invitation letter issued by Azerbaijan and pre-cleared before travel can obtain a visa on arrival. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the expiry date of the Azerbaijani visa applied for. Very few people speak English, outside the capital but the country is filled with rugged mountains.
  15. Turkey Visa for Indians can be obtained on arrival provided holding a visa issued by the UK, USA or a Schengen Country for $20. Turkey boasts of rich history (the Ottoman empire) and great scenery from white-sand beaches to towering mountains.
  16. Here are the other countries that offer VOA to Indians:

Burundi, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Liberia, Mauritius, Sierra Leone, Cambodia, Indonesia, Iran, Laos,

Jordan, Macau, Myanmar, Tajikistan, Kuwait, Oman, Timor Leste, Fiji, Samoa, and Tuvalu.

Man of the millennium

Man of the Millennium.....

  Good Morning dear all

Mr.Kalayanasundaram worked as a Librarian for 30 years. Every month in his 30 year experience(service), he donated his entire salary to help the needy. He worked as a server in a hotel to meet his needs. He donated even his pension amount of about ten lakh rupees to the needy.

He is the first person in the world to spend the entire earnings for a social cause. In recognition to his service, the American government honoured him with the ‘Man of the Millennium’ award. He received a sum of Rs 30 crores as part of this award which he distributed entirely for the needy as usual.

Moved by his passion to help others, Super Star Rajinikanth adopted him as his father. He still stays as a bachelor and dedicated his entire life for serving the society. You can read more about him here.

All our Politicians, Film stars, Business magnets, cricketers  Press and we all Indians should be PROUD and also should be ashamed of ourselves. American Government has honored him but we Indians even don't know that such a personality exist amongst us.

Atleast have the courtesy to pass this on and on till the whole world comes to know about this Great Good Samaritan.

Hat's off Kalayanasundaram.. We Indians are extremely proud of you and proudly say "THIS HAPPENS ONLY IN INDIA "

Practising what he preaches

"We cannot sustain ourselves, unless we contribute to the society in someway or the other. I strongly feel if even one person does his bit towards social good, there will be some change."

A will to serve combined with a sense of social justice has been the guiding principle of P. Kalyanasundaram, who has spent over 45 years in social service. A gold medallist in library science, he is also an MA in literature and history. During his 35-year-career as a librarian at the Kumarkurupara Arts College at Srivaikuntam in Tuticorin district, he gave away all his salary for charity and did odd jobs to meet his daily needs. He has also come forward to donate his body and eyes to the Tirunelveli Medical College.

The Union Government has acclaimed him as `The Best Librarian in India'. He has also been chosen as `one of the top ten librarians of the world'. The International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, has honoured him as `one of the noblest of the world', while the United Nations Organisation adjudged him as one of the Outstanding People of the 20th Century'. An American organisation has also selected him as the `Man of the Millennium.'

Mr. Kalyanasundaram, who has founded a social welfare organisation, `Paalam', shares his experiences in a chat with Prathiba Parameswaran.

SIMPLICITY IN life and exemplariness in practice has been the hallmark of Mr. Kalyanasundaram. Born in August 1953 at Melakarivelamkulam in Tirunelveli district, he lost his father at a very young age. It was his mother, who inspired him to serve the poor.

When he was at college, the Indo-China war broke out, and he contributed his gold chain to the then Chief Minister, Kamaraj, for the war fund. At this time around, he went to meet Balasubramanian, Editor, Ananda Vikatan. "He sent me away, saying he would write about me the day I donated something I had earned myself. I did not speak a word to anyone about what I had done. I took it as a challenge," Mr. Kalyanasundaram recalls. Ever since he got a job as a librarian in Tuticorin, he has contributed all his salary, pension benefits and ancestral property to social welfare. It was not until 1990, when he received his pension arrears and contributed it to the Collector's Fund, that the then Tiruneveli Collector felicitated him, despite his protests. The `Paalam' serves as a bridge between donors and beneficiaries: it collects money and materials from those willing to donate and distribute them among the weaker sections. It has also contributed to the cyclone relief funds in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa, and has helped the earthquake victims in Maharashtra and Gujarat. "We cannot sustain ourselves, unless we contribute towards the society in someway or the other. I strongly feel if even one person does his bit towards social good, there will be some change," he asserts.

Mr. Kalyanasundaram feels that one must achieve something in his chosen field. His contribution to library science is immense. A thesis he submitted as part of his post-graduate course to the Madurai Kamaraj University fetched him distinction. He has also hit upon an easy way of tracing and accessing books in libraries.

His ability to strike a rapport even with youngsters is remarkable. He cites the instance when he started wearing khadi. At college, he was required to take classes on Gandhianism. "I had to speak about simplicity and everything Gandhi stood for, but I was clad in expensive clothes. That was when I decided to switch over to khadi," he relates. Since then he had always practised what he stood for, making himself a role model for many youths.

He was popular among college and school students, and many of them have joined his organisation.

He has long-term plans for his organisation. One is the setting up of a nationalised digital library with modern equipment, which could be accessed by people from all walks of life.

He also wants to set up an international children's university in Tamil Nadu, with foreign aid. However, he says, a mission has a meaning only when the right people are involved in it. The Directorate of Public Libraries should recruit people with a library science background to be librarians, he says. "And good librarians should have a broad knowledge of everything."

God is still forgiving us for spoiling "His" earth

Winds back, Delhi smog shows signs of let-up after five days

Edited by Ashish Mukherjee | Updated: November 05, 2012 09:28 IST

New Delhi: The dense smog that kept Delhi under its grip for five days has begun to lift up. Parts of the city were windy today after a dry phase, helping clear the dust and pollutants and improving visibility.

At the Delhi airport, the visibility this morning was between 700 metres and 900 metres, good enough for flights to take off and land.

Dr JK Jenamani, Director, Indian Meteorological Department, told NDTV there had been no let-up in the smog in the last few days because of the lack of winds.

"Smog is normal in November, but this time it has been denser and prolonged because of high pollution and no wind motion from the surface till 4,000 metres above sea level," Dr Jenamani said.

"This caused the pollution from vehicles and industries to remain in the air," he said. "Such thick smog was last seen in 2008."

The weather department said the smog was likely to clear out by November 7 when winds from Rajasthan start blowing.

The smog put the focus back on Delhi's air quality, which had improved after the switch of public transport from petrol and diesel to the cleaner CNG. But the advantage is thought to have been frittered away.

Last week's large scale burning of farmlands in Punjab and haryana too contributed to Delhi's pollution and the smog.

Why I wear a Rose Quartz

Rose quartz is a type of quartz that exhibits a pale pink to rose red hue. The color is usually considered as due to trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese in the massive material. Some types of quartz contain microscopic rutile needles that produce an asterism in transmitted light. Recent X-ray diffraction studies suggest that the color is due to thin microscopic fibers of possibly dumortierite within the massive quartz.[15]

In crystal form (rarely found) it is called pink quartz and its color is thought to be caused by trace amounts of phosphate or aluminium. The color in crystals is apparently photosensitive and subject to fading. The first crystals were found in a pegmatite found near Rumford, Maine, US, but most crystals on the market come from Minas Gerais, Brazil.[16]

Symptoms of Frustrated Govt.

Non-subsidized LPG price hiked by Rs. 26.50 to Rs. 922 per cylinder

Edited by Amit Chaturvedi | Updated: November 01, 2012 15:37 IST

New Delhi: The price of non-subsidised cooking gas cylinders has been increased by Rs. 26.5.

The 14.2-kg cooking gas cylinder that consumers buy beyond their entitled six bottles at subsidised rates, will  now cost Rs. 922, up from Rs. 895.50 in Delhi, according to Indian Oil Corporation, the nation's largest fuel retailer.

A subsidised cylinder costs Rs. 410.42  in Delhi. There is no restriction on the number of non-subsidised cylinders that a consumer can buy beyond the six subsidised bottles.

In September, the government reigned in subsidies by introducing a limit of six discounted cylinders for every household.  That reform was one of the reasons for the exit of Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress from the Prime Minister's coalition, reducing his government to a minority.

The Congress has said that in states where it is in power, nine subsidised cylinders will be made available to families every year.

State-owned oil firms revise rates of non-subsidised LPG on 1st of every month based on the average imported cost and rupee-US dollar rate during the previous month.
